Special Viewing of "Screenagers" for Parents

posted Feb 11, 2021, 8:04 AM by St. Isidore School

Each year school councils receive funding from the Ontario Government through the OCSB’s Parent Involvement Committee to support events that bring parents together to discuss issues relevant to our students. Given this year’s unique situation, All Saints Catholic School Council invites you to virtually attend a screening of two films:
 SCREENAGERS: Growing up in the Digital Age explores “the struggles over social media, video games, academics, and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.”
 Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER addresses “how to help teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. The documentary sets out to understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society, and how we can empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.”
The screening of these two documentaries will take place over a two-week period from February 13-28.
If you are interested in participating, please register on the All Saints Screenagers page by clicking on the "Register to Watch"; button on the top left of the page. You will then receive an email with your link to view at your convenience during the two-week period.
The viewing of the documentaries will be followed up with parent discussion groups the evening of March 1 st that you may attend using the one of the grade links on the All Saints Parent Involvement – Screenagers webpage, including a video chat exclusive for parents of elementary-aged students. Please click on your chosen grade prior at 7PM to participate in a live discussion which will also be attended by someone from administration and a representative of school council.
